Yellow Aspens

This is me and my mother-in-law at Three Forks in Colorado. We fished for trout every day while the boys hunted big animals. I thought about posting pictures of Josh's animals, but not sure of the reactions that might ensue. I didn't know how to tie all those pictures in with the "Huntleigh" theme I have going on here. He did get an excellent mule deer, though. For those of you who know us well, you'll get to see his mule deer at the farm sometime in the near future.

new face

this is Huntleigh's newest face. as a viewer of my blog, you may be indifferent to such photos or find it no different from the others, but as her mom, I love these faces. they only last for a brief period of time and it would be great to remember all of them. if you have met huntleigh, you know that this is the face she makes when she is happy to see someone new. she typically will not make this face for me because i am not someone new: i am that woman who says "no" to her when she prefers to get her own way. but i caught her at a good time--early in the morning, just after waking up--and she performed for the camera, exactly like i wanted her to.

i am leaving her for a week to go to Colorado and so i just could never get enough of this face. oh sweet baby, i love you. i am going to miss you so much.

more glow

balloon glow

on friday we went to the balloon glow in Forest Park. i have actually never been to the glow before. and i haven't been to the race since i was 11 and it was out at Babler Park. so my good friend Sarah and i took Huntleigh into the masses of people to watch the glow. when the balloons would all glow at the same time everyone would clap and Huntleigh would get really proud and excited, like everyone was clapping for her. we had a great time, just us girls.

the refrigerator incident

huntleigh loves when the refrigerator door is open. it is totally unchartered territory for her and she has such a blast exploring...I didn't mind for awhile, but josh put the kabosh on it and so now I have to reverse all previous encounters with the fridge and say NO....a lot. this was one of those mornings when I was just couldn't help but let her play (i mean, look at how stinking cute she is...who could resist those eyes?!) and as I ran to get the camera, she grabbed the eggs. if i had taken the picture immediately after this moment, you would see splattered eggs all over her and the floor. life has become all about cleaning up after huntleigh. but she's worth it.

Sonny!

this is sonny, another one of those first-or-seconds cousins of huntleigh's. we LOVE sonny. he really takes the time to love huntleigh and that is very precious to me, as a mom. we all spent the weekend at the farm together and so hunts had a bunch of time to see sonny.

labor day weekend

this is brooke hager, huntleigh's second cousin...or first cousin once-removed--we never did get the final ruling on that, did we? anyways, we discovered that huntleigh will "kiss" us when we say "Kiss!" but you never know quite what you'll get from her. Sometimes it's a nose rub, sometimes she just leans in with her mouth open, and then sometimes she gets it just right and will pucker her little lips. I know i'm her mom, but it is so irresistable.
